The Queen honors outstanding women and girls at the WOW Festival

The WOW Girls Festival Bus Tour came to a conclusion with a reception hosted by Her Majesty The Queen, President of WOW, in honor of International Women’s Day on 8th March.

The WOW Girls festival is a catalyst for societal change in the perception of girls, their potential, and the opportunities available for their future.

Joining The Queen at the reception were The Queen of the Belgians and The Duchess of Gloucester.

Together, they visited the WOW Bus at its final tour stop, engaging with young individuals participating in recording studio sessions and craft activities onboard.

The WOW Bus serves as an interactive platform, offering workshops and programs nationwide to engage youth from diverse backgrounds within their communities.

The bus interior has been transformed to facilitate participation in gender equality-themed activities designed by WOW, utilizing avenues like play, reading, digital experiences, videos, and a recording studio.

The bus tour kicked off on 11th October, the International Day of the Girl, and concluded at Buckingham Palace post the International Women’s Day on 8th March.

Inside Buckingham Palace, The Queen, The Queen of the Belgians, and The Duchess of Gloucester met notable figures like Dame Helen Mirren, Melanie Brown, and her daughter, Phoenix Brown.

In her address to the guests, Her Majesty commended their achievements and courage, acknowledging the impact of the WOW bus in providing mentorship, hosting thought-provoking panel discussions, and fostering partnerships with organizations dedicated to youth empowerment year-round.

During the event, The Queen was presented with a special Barbie doll as a token of appreciation for her role in championing the WOW Festival as its President.
