During his visit, His Royal Highness paid a visit to Surplus to Supper at their base at Sunbury Cricket Club, where he gained insights into the charity's efforts in addressing the gap between food waste and food insecurity in Surrey and West London.
This charity is responsible for redistributing more than three tonnes of surplus food daily to various local projects including food banks, charities, schools, and community organizations.
While at the charity, The Prince interacted with volunteers who are involved in sorting and delivering the food, and even assisted in loading their delivery vans before accompanying a driver on a food transport trip.
Later on, The Prince of Wales proceeded to visit the Hanworth Centre Hub in Feltham, a youth center that offers a variety of services aimed at creating a safer and more connected community, and regularly receives deliveries from Surplus to Supper.
There, His Royal Highness personally made a delivery from Surplus to Supper and engaged with the center's staff and volunteers to understand the impact that the food donations have on the services provided.
The Hub functions as a secure and inclusive space for young individuals, some of whom have encountered challenges, and it helps them in developing confidence and valuable skills for their future endeavors.
