Dubbed WEST ('Where Everyone Sticks Together') by local young individuals, the Youth Zone will be equipped with dedicated and skilled youth workers who will assist youngsters from across west London in building the necessary skills and self-belief to pursue their aspirations.
Operated as a local independent charity, WEST Youth Zone boasts a range of amenities including a sports hall, fitness suite, indoor climbing wall, teaching kitchen, performing arts studio, and a cafe offering affordable nutritious meals priced at a maximum of £1.
This initiative has been spearheaded by OnSide, a renowned national youth center charity committed to empowering young individuals to lead satisfying lives through access to cutting-edge spaces and impactful youth programs in areas where they are most needed.
The OnSide network consists of fourteen Youth Zones across the country, with locations in Bolton, Manchester, Wigan, various spots in London, and plans to launch seven more in locations like Bristol, Grimsby, Essex, and Preston within the next two years.
In 2021, the former Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited OnSide's Wolverhampton Youth Zone, known as 'The Way.
' During his tour, The Prince engaged with students from Ark White City primary school and the Young People's Development Group at WEST, who played a key role in shaping the design and amenities of the new center.
