The Prince of Wales makes a visit to WEST Youth Zone

The Prince of Wales recently paid a visit to the newly opened OnSide Youth Zone in Hammersmith and Fulham, London.

His purpose was to witness the state-of-the-art facilities that will soon be accessible to the youth in the area.

The new Youth Zone, dubbed WEST ('Where Everyone Sticks Together') by local young individuals, will have a team of dedicated and skilled youth workers to help youngsters in west London build necessary skills and confidence to pursue their aspirations.

WEST Youth Zone is a local independent charity equipped with various amenities like a sports hall, fitness suite, indoor climbing wall, teaching kitchen, performing arts studio, and a cafe offering affordable nutritious meals for just £1.

It was established by OnSide, a national youth centre charity striving to enable young people to lead fruitful lives by providing top-notch spaces and transformative youth programs in underserved areas.

The OnSide network currently includes fourteen Youth Zones across the UK, such as in Bolton, Manchester, Wigan, and London, with plans for seven more to open in the next couple of years in cities like Bristol, Grimsby, Essex, and Preston.

Back in 2021, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited OnSide's Wolverhampton Youth Zone, known as 'The Way'.

During his visit, The Prince engaged with students from Ark White City primary school and WEST's Young People's Development Group, who were actively involved in shaping the design and features of the new center.

The aim was to grasp the transformative impact WEST would have on the local youth.

His Royal Highness then toured the Youth Zone, interacting with youngsters using the indoor sports hall, observing the teaching kitchen where cooking skills are honed, and finally, commemorating the opening with a plaque unveiling ceremony.
