His Royal Highness began his day by visiting Low Carbon Materials, a finalist for the Earthshot Prize 2022, to gain insights into their innovative low-carbon construction materials.
Since being named an Earthshot Prize Finalist, Low Carbon Materials has made significant progress, expanding their offerings and forming partnerships to advance their goal of decarbonizing the construction sector.
One notable partnership is with National Highways to support their ambition of achieving net-zero emissions from construction and maintenance activities by 2040.
The Prince of Wales then proceeded to James’ Place in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne to learn about the vital support the charity's new center offers to men in suicidal crisis situations in the area.
During his visit, His Royal Highness toured the facility, met with staff and service users who have benefitted from the charity, and officially inaugurated the site.
He had previously opened the charity’s initial center in Liverpool in 2018 and the London location in 2022.
James’ Place has provided support to over 140 men since opening its doors for referrals in January and has assisted more than 2,300 men across its various centers.
