The Prince of Wales Commemorates Seaweed Advancements in Wales

The Prince of Wales journeyed to Cardiff to honor the seaweed industry and food innovation in Wales, observing firsthand how the country is assisting food and drink enterprises through food science, new product development, and biomedical sciences.

During his visit to Cardiff Metropolitan University, His Royal Highness partook in an innovation exhibition with businesses from Wales, various regions of the UK, and the Commonwealth, which harness seaweed to design products spanning different industries.

Among the attendees were 2022 Earthshot Prize Winner Notpla and 2023 Earthshot Prize Finalist Sea Forest, both exemplifying The Earthshot Prize’s objective to unveil and amplify pioneering solutions to the planet’s most critical environmental challenges.

Seaweed, being a plentiful resource, holds the potential to address some of the most significant environmental issues encountered globally – from plastic pollution to climate change.

Post-showcase, The Prince of Wales toured the ZERO2FIVE Food Industry Centre.

This premier hub, affiliated with Food Innovation Wales, furnishes food businesses with technical, operational, and commercial assistance to enhance their operational efficiency.
