Collaboratively curated by Homewards, Saatchi Gallery, and Eleven Eleven Foundation, this exhibition showcases the works of artists from the UK and beyond, serving as a potent platform for individuals directly impacted by homelessness to communicate their narratives through art.
During his tour, His Royal Highness engaged with artists who contributed newly created pieces for the exhibition, as well as individuals who have shared their experiences and served as inspiration for the artwork on display.
The exhibition is segmented into three sections.
The first section, 'Invisible Words', showcases a moving collection of signs crafted by homeless individuals globally.
The second section, 'Reframed', presents freshly commissioned works that mirror the artists' own encounters with homelessness or those of others.
The final component, 'Open Doors', spotlights doors crafted by children and youth from six Homewards locations: Aberdeen; Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole; Lambeth; Newport; Northern Ireland; and Sheffield.
Designed with the guidance of local artists who have experienced homelessness, these doors symbolize the various pathways towards overcoming homelessness.
An essential goal of the Homewards initiative, initiated by His Royal Highness and The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales in June 2023, is to transform the discourse and combat the negative stereotypes surrounding homelessness.
