The association, a tri-service charity, aims to provide entertainment, leisure, and recreation for ex-service men and women with disabilities or illnesses, as well as serving personnel who are wounded, injured, or sick.
Since its establishment in 1920 to offer comfort and entertainment to wounded ex-servicemen from the Great War still in hospitals, the Not Forgotten Association has had a close relationship with the Royal Family.
Princess Mary was the first Royal Patron of the charity until her death in 1965, followed by HRH The Duchess of Kent, and then The Princess Royal assumed the role in 2000.
Originally granted approval by King George V and Queen Mary, Garden Parties were held at Buckingham Palace for the wounded servicemen.
They were treated to tours of the Royal Mews, enjoyed tea provided by Queen Mary and Princess Mary, and were allowed to relax and play in the garden as they pleased.
Continuing the tradition of providing entertainment for guests, the recent Garden Party allowed attendees to enjoy traditional tea and cake while exploring the picturesque Buckingham Palace Garden.
