The King's address on the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Senedd.

Presiding Officer, First Minister, Members of the Welsh Parliament, ladies and gentlemen, The Queen and I are thrilled to be here today to commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of Welsh devolution, a significant milestone in our shared history.

Throughout my life, I have had the privilege of journeying alongside you through times of change, sorrow, and achievement, deepening my admiration and affection for the people of this ancient land with each passing year.

It brings me great joy to see my son continue his connection to this special land, including his recent visit to Anglesey - Ynys Môn - a place of great personal significance to him.

As we reflect on the past twenty-five years and the work accomplished in this Senedd, I am filled with special memories and pride.

Back in 1999, when the National Assembly for Wales was established, none of us could foresee the future.

However, we placed our trust in the shared commitment to the well-being of the people of Wales as our guiding principle.

Looking back on the progress made since then, I hope you take pride in the respect earned and the positive impact on countless lives.

Welsh matters have been given due attention, and the distinct voice of Wales resonates with clarity and purpose.

We reflect on the journey thus far and eagerly anticipate the path ahead.

A parliament wouldn't be authentic without differing opinions, yet the spirit of community and inclusivity has prevailed, symbolized by the very structure of this chamber.

We all acknowledge the multitude of ways to love and serve our country.

Wales, with its diverse communities, landscapes, and cultures from Anglesey to Monmouth, offers a unique tapestry for you to safeguard.

It's heartening to see the Welsh language so prominently used in the Senedd, not merely as a symbol but as an essence and honor.

The Senedd has evolved from a symbol to an essential institution in the life of Wales over the past twenty-five years.

You have accomplished much, and I extend my heartfelt congratulations on these achievements.

As we face the challenges of the next quarter-century, particularly those related to our planet, I commend your vigor and resolve in tackling them.

While many milestones lie ahead, remember that you are not alone.

The strength, resilience, and aspirations of the Welsh people will support you.

With the goodwill and backing of those who have Wales at heart, you can overcome any challenge.

I offer my sincere thanks and best wishes to you all for continued success in the years ahead.

Charles R.
