Seaweed Innovation in Wales Celebrated by the Prince of Wales

The Prince of Wales made a trip to Cardiff to honor the seaweed industry and food innovation in Wales, witnessing firsthand how Wales is supporting food and drink ventures through advancements in food science, new product development, and biomedical sciences.

During his visit to Cardiff Metropolitan University, His Royal Highness participated in an innovation exhibition featuring businesses from Wales, as well as other regions of the UK and the Commonwealth, that utilize seaweed to produce a variety of products in different sectors.

Among the attendees were the 2022 Earthshot Prize Winner Notpla and the 2023 Earthshot Prize Finalist Sea Forest – organizations that exemplify The Earthshot Prize's goal of identifying and amplifying groundbreaking solutions to the planet's most critical environmental challenges.

Seaweed is a plentiful resource with the potential to address some of the most significant environmental issues confronting the world, from plastic pollution to climate change.

After the exhibition, The Prince of Wales paid a visit to the ZERO2FIVE Food Industry Centre.

This leading-edge facility, a part of Food Innovation Wales, offers technical, operational, and commercial assistance to food businesses, equipping them to operate more efficiently.
