Identification of the Royal Pages of Honour

The Coronation featured a delightful display with eight impeccably dressed and well-mannered page boys, four for the King and four for the Queen.

In the past, pages were selected based solely on their lineage, but Queen Elizabeth II chose Prince William of Gloucester and Prince Michael of Kent to be part of her retinue.

In 2023, the priority is on family, regardless of titles.

So, who were the chosen ones this time around? A descendant of the King and second in line to the Throne after his father, the Prince was among four pages donning a uniform dating back to the Coronation of Edward VII in 1902.

The ensemble included a scarlet tunic adorned with gold lace trim and blue velvet cuffs, along with an open-front design.

Completing the outfit were an ivory silk satin waistcoat with gold braid, wool trousers, and boots.

Nicholas is the child of solicitor Piers Barclay and Rose Troughton, a member of the Colman mustard dynasty and a goddaughter to King Charles.

They are also descendants of the 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and have two sisters, Aurelia and Beatrice.

Oliver finds himself in a unique position as the younger of twins, with his elder sibling Alexander set to inherit the family title and fortune as the 8th Marquess of Cholmondeley.

The twins reside at Houghton Hall, Norfolk, with their parents David and Rose, both close friends of the Royal family.

Ralph, the child of the Hon Edward and Sophia Tollemache, comes from a lineage intertwined with royalty, staying at Helmingham Hall where the late Queen and Prince Philip were frequent guests.

Wearing a red uniform inspired by the Grenadier Guards, Louis, the grandson of Massey Lopes, 2nd Baron Roborough, is one of twins and the offspring of Laura, the Queen’s daughter, and her husband Harry Lopes.

Meanwhile, Freddy, dressed similarly to Louis, is the son of food writer Tom Parker Bowles and Sara Buys, a fashion editor.

Gus, Louis’s twin, donned a Rifles-inspired uniform featuring Her Majesty’s cypher, dressed in a jacket with a distinct collar braid and a unique green design.

Lastly, grand-nephew Arthur is the child of Ben Elliot and Mary-Clare Winwood, with the family recently mourning the loss of Ben’s father, Simon Elliot.

These unique individuals brought charm and elegance to the Coronation, showcasing a blend of heritage and contemporary family ties.
