During his first visit of the day, the Duke of Cambridge marked two significant commitments to address homelessness in Sheffield and beyond.
The Homewards Activator, Homebase, has pledged a £1 million investment to help Homewards furnish and decorate new housing projects, while local landlords in Sheffield have agreed to provide thirty-one homes for families at risk of homelessness.
Prince William also met with parents, caregivers, and young adults from local families who have experienced homelessness.
They were participating in a workshop to collaboratively design Homewards Sheffield's innovative housing project.
Each flagship location of Homewards will develop its unique housing project aimed at meeting local needs and experimenting with new approaches to provide homes on a larger scale.
Later, the Duke of Cambridge went to Sheffield's city center to join a Homewards Sheffield Local Coalition meeting.
Over the past nine months, the Coalition assembled by Homewards has been gathering new partners to establish a collective vision for Sheffield and devise a Local Action Plan to combat homelessness in the region.
The group comprises more than 70 organizations and individuals from the local community who have firsthand experience with homelessness.
