The special event took place at Clarence House.
The Ocean Globe Race (OGR) 2023-24 is a retro race inspired by the 1973 Whitbread Round the World Race, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the original race.
In this challenge, participants sail without modern technology like computers, GPS, and high-tech materials, relying on sextants and paper charts for navigation.
Fourteen boats embarked on the 27,000 nautical miles journey from Cowes, traveling through four legs and passing three great Capes, with stops in South Africa, New Zealand, and Uruguay before returning to the UK.
This year's race commemorates the 50th anniversary of the inaugural Whitbread Round the World Race.
Three decades ago, skipper Tracy Edwards MBE led an all-female crew who finished second in the 1989/90 Whitbread Round the World Race aboard the 58ft Maiden yacht, winning two legs along the way.
Their participation marked the first-ever entry of an all-female team in a global yacht race.
In 2018, the Maiden yacht was repurposed for a worldwide journey to raise awareness and funds for girls' education.
Before its departure, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, along with HRH Princess Haya, who facilitated the yacht's refurbishment, visited the boat.
Initiated by Tracy Edwards in September 2023, Maiden set off on the Ocean Globe Race with a diverse and professional crew from various nations, including the UK, Antigua, USA, South Africa, Puerto Rico, Italy, France, and Afghanistan.
The team includes the first black female crew and the first Middle Eastern female crew to race around the world, embodying and celebrating the diverse cultures and values encountered on their 28,000-mile journey.
After spending 153 days at sea, Maiden achieved another historic milestone by becoming the first all-female team to win an around-the-world yacht race.
Before the crew embarked on their journey in September 2023, The Queen sent her best wishes and words of encouragement to the team, expressing her pride in their unique endeavor and wishing them safe travels and favorable conditions for the race.
