2024: The Queen's Message on Armed Forces Day

It is a great privilege for me to be present with you all on Armed Forces Day, as we come together to honor the dedication and service of the brave men and women in our military, both at home and abroad.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you for your unwavering commitment to safeguarding our nation.

Today, we also pause to remember and honor those who have sacrificed everything in the pursuit of peace and security worldwide.

Recently, my husband and I had the privilege of being in Normandy to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

This solemn occasion served as a powerful reminder of the remarkable courage displayed by the Allied forces across land, sea, and air, whose collective efforts led to the liberation of Western Europe.

We will forever remain indebted to their sacrifices.

As we reflect on the past and look to the present, I am continuously inspired by the ethos of bravery and dedication that permeates our Armed Forces.

Despite facing numerous challenges and threats, you continue to uphold your duties with resolute determination.

Your service not only protects our nation but also upholds freedoms far beyond our borders.

Your enduring spirit, unwavering commitment, and mutual loyalty to one another and to the United Kingdom do not go unnoticed, and for that, we are profoundly grateful.

I also want to express my gratitude to the families of our service members, who serve as pillars of strength and support while their loved ones are deployed overseas.

Having grown up as the daughter of an Army officer, I understand the sacrifices and challenges that military families endure.

Your resilience and sacrifice do not go unnoticed and are equally commendable.

In times of conflict and in times of peace, whether in the forefront or behind the scenes, our Armed Forces stand as a symbol of unity and strength for our nation.

You are a constant source of inspiration, comfort, and pride, and I offer my sincere salute to each and every one of you.
